Alaska Baby Company Washing Fuzz
CARE
DETERGENTS - Charlie's Soap(use 1/4 - 1/2 tablespoon) is a highly recommended detergent! You can find it here at my shop in the accessories or at www.charliesoap.com. For a front loading washer Allens Naturally is highly recommended and can be found at allensnaturally.com. Other detergents may build up on your diapers in a front loader and you will need to strip them in the kitchen sink with liquid Dawn detergent. Cheer and Tide Free are also okay for these diapers but you will need to use ¼-½ of a scoop per load and strip regularly(shown below.)
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS -
1. RINSE AND SPIN, or Pre-Wash Cycle - this gets most of your baby's waste out of the wash before you add detergent.
2. HOT WASH, highest water level, with above recommended detergent.
3. Extra rinse, if desired, to get out any leftover detergent.
DRYING INSTRUCTIONS Dry on low or medium heat in dryer with NO FABRIC SOFTNER (Line dry if desired)
Always use the least amount of detergent possible (about ¼ the amount suggested on the detergent contianer) to get diapers clean to avoid build-up on your diapers. These diapers don't hold on to soil but they can tend to cling to detergent. I have never needed more than the lowest recommended amount, but if your diapers are not getting clean, just use a little more detergent.
STRIPPING INSTRUCTIONS You will want to strip your diapers about twice a month if you are using Tide or Cheer, and only if needed with Charlies Soap. I would recommend everyone strip their diapers regularly to keep them soft and working well.
- Rinse Cycle
- Hot wash with 2X the detergent you normally use on diapers.
- Hot wash with NO DETERGENT (repeat if necessary until you see no bubbles in the wash)
- Dry on low or medium heat in dryer with NO FABRIC SOFTNER (Line dry if desired)
KEEP THESE OFF YOUR FLEECE
AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS EASY TO CARE FOR THE DIAPERS. HOWEVER, A FEW THINGS CAN CAUSE DIFFICULTIES!!! I KNOW THIS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. NEVER PUT ANYTHING ON YOUR DIAPERS WITHOUT CONSULTING THE MANUFACTURER 1-866-DRY-BABY OR MYSELF (907) 727-2607. THINGS PEOPLE (LIKE ME) HAVE PUT ON THEIR DIAPERS THAT WE KNOW CAN MAKE THEM LEAK OR WEAR OUT QUICKLY ARE:
BLEACH (OXI-CLEAN MAY BE USED)- Breaks down fibers, makes diapers rough. FABRIC SOFTNER - Can cause diaper rash & leave a residue on diapers causing leakage. FRAGRANCED DETERGENT - Can cause diaper rash, residue reacts with urine making diapers smelly. EXCESSIVE DETERGENT - Soiling comes out of the diapers easily w/ little detergent, detergent residue reacts with urine making diapers smelly. RASH CREAM - You may use a SMALL AMOUNT of rash cream if you are using a diaper liner, creams clog fleece causing diapers to leak. ALL BRAND DETERGENTS - Tend to leave a residue on diapers after much use which clogs fleece. DREFT BRAND DETERGENTS - Any pure soap detergent will leave a residue which clogs fleece & makes diapers smelly.
